Might as well face it…

…your addicted to crochet!
Hi my name is Elín and I’m a crocheter! Hi Elín!
I’ve always felt awkward doing introduction of myself. But here it goes!

I was born in 1982 which makes me 42 years old when this is written. I live in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. Always lived here and know nothing else.

I share a home with my boyfriend Christo, my three kids – Mikael, Móri & Maía, our two cats and lot’s of yarn and crochet projects. This summer I taught my bf and younger kids how to crochet. Love that we now all share the same hobby – don’t love so much that I have to share my yarn budget with them.

I’ve been crocheting since I was 13 and you could say that I am obsessed with crochet. I even have a crochet tattoo. I get distracted – or bored – really easily if I don’t have something to do with my hands, and that’s why I take my crochet with me EVERYWHERE. Therefor the crochet name Fidgety Hands.

When I’m not crocheting or spending time with my family I’m at work at my “day job”. I own a yarn store, Handverkskúnst, in Reykjavík with my mom Guðrún. My mom is a master knitter, so we make a great team of helping customers with knitting and crochet. We’ve had the store now for almost 10 years and it’s way more than just a job, I sometimes call it my fourth child.

I LOVE starting new projects and creating crochet patterns. My favorite things to create are: Blankets, Shawls and doily things – crochet covered rocks, coasters, ornaments.

BUT I really struggle with finishing them. And mean I REALLY struggle with it. It’s gotten to the point that I’m almost always guilty when I start a new project. Which is honestly annoying and it negatively affects my crochet happiness.

This blog is a part of my mission to organize all of my UFO projects and patterns and publish them when they are completed. So that I can start even more new projects guilt free!

Wish me luck!
