The triple treble stitches in this one might scare some of you – but don’t let them stop you from making this bauble if you like the look of them. This one is simple, mostly double crochets but also a few trebles, double trebles and triple trebles.
This is the last bauble pattern of the three that I made in 2015. I haven’t made many baubles from this pattern, can’t tell you why because I do think they are pretty. Maybe it’s because of all the double crochet stitches 😂
You can buy this pattern as a printable pdf file on Ravelry.

Materials:
Yarn: Crochet thread size 10. I didn’t weight how much I used, but it’s just a few grams. I used Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush (50g, 280m) – color 105 Bridal White.
Crochet hook: 1,5 mm
Bauble size: 6 cm in diameter
Gauge: 18 double crochet = 5 cm
It is very important to have the right gauge so that the crochet cover fits the bauble as it should. It is possible to use a different yarn and/or a larger hook to make covers for larger baubles.
Construction: The covers are crocheted from bottom up.
I use meters and grams as a unit of measurements. I don’t have any sense for other ways to measure, and because of that I don’t feel confident in converting my measurements to inches or ounces or anything else. Hope you don’t mind having to do that yourself.
Crochet abbreviations US:
st – stitch
ch – chain
ch-sp – chain space

*asterisks* – Repetitions are grouped together with asterisks.

The pattern:
Make a magic loop.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 16 sc in loop, join with sl st to 1st sc. (16 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 9 (counts as 1 dtr + ch 4), skip 1 sc, *1 dtr in next sc, ch 4, skip 1 sc*, repeat from * to * 6 more times, join with a sl st to 5th ch of beg-9. (8 dtr + 8 ch-sp)
Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 5 dc in next ch-sp, *1 dc in next dtr, 5 dc in next ch-sp*, repeat from * to * 6 more times, join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg-3. (48 dc)
Rnd 4: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in same st as sl st, 1 dc in next 5 dc, *2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next 5 dc*, repeat from * to * 6 more times, join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg-3. (56 dc)
Rnd 5: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in next 55 dc, join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg-3. (56 dc)
Rnd 6: Ch 6 (counts as 1 trtr), 1 trtr in next dc, ch 3, skip 2 dc, *1 trtr in next 2 dc, ch 3, skip 2 dc*, repeat from * to * 12 more times, join with sl st in 6th ch of beg-6. (28 trtr + 14 ch-sp)
Rnd 7: Sl st in the space between next 2 trtr (not in loop), ch 2, 1 dc in same space as sl st, 3 dc in next ch-sp, *dc2tog in space between next 2 trtr, 3 dc in next ch-sp*, repeat from * to * 12 more times, join with sl st to 1st dc. (56 dc, each dc2tog count as 1 dc in this count)
Rnd 8: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in next 55 dc, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg-3. (56 dc)
Rnd 9: Ch 2, 1 dc in next 6 st, dc2tog next 2 dc (decrease), *1 dc in next 5 dc, dc2tog next 2 dc*, repeat from * to * 6 more times, join with sl st to 1st dc.
Note: At the end of rnd 10, before you join, you have to put the ornament inside the crocheted cover. Last round of the pattern is made with the cover around ornament
Rnd 10: Ch 7 (counts as 1 dtr + ch 2), skip 5 dc, *1 dtr in next dc, ch 2, skip next 5 dc*, repeat from * to * 6 more times, join with sl st to 5th ch of beg-7. (8 dtr + 8 ch-sp)
Rnd 11: Ch 1, sc2tog on each side of next dtr, 1 sc in ch-sp, *sc2tog on each side of next dtr, 1 sc in next ch-sp*, repeat from * to *, close rnd when weaving in ends. If you fint the sc2tog on each side of the dtr confusing it is ok to skip them and make 1 sc instead.
The cover needs to be tight against the ornament cap, increase or decrease sc if needed, you can also make it tighter when you weave in the ends.
