This one! This is my favorite of all the bauble patterns that I have made. I can’t tell you what about it makes it my favorite. I just like looking at it – and I can’t help but think that it’s sooo pretty.
The inspiration for this bauble pattern was an old doily that I got from my step-grandma after she passed. Maybe one day I’ll make an blog about where I get my inspiration for the bauble patterns.
You can buy this pattern as a printable pdf file on Ravelry.

Materials:
Yarn: Crochet thread size 10. I didn’t weight how much I used, but it’s just a few grams. I used Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush (50g, 280m) – color 105 Bridal White.
Crochet hook: 1,5 mm
Bauble size: 6 cm in diameter
Gauge: 18 double crochet = 5 cm
It is very important to have the right gauge so that the crochet cover fits the bauble as it should. It is possible to use a different yarn and/or a larger hook to make covers for larger baubles.
Construction: The covers are crocheted from bottom up.
I use meters and grams as a unit of measurements. I don’t have any sense for other ways to measure, and because of that I don’t feel confident in converting my measurements to inches or ounces or anything else. Hope you don’t mind having to do that yourself.
Crochet abbreviations US:
st – stitch
ch – chain
ch-sp – chain space
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
tr – treble crochet, yarn 2 times over hook
*asterisks* – Repetitions are grouped together with asterisks.

The pattern:
Make a magic loop, or chain 6 and join in a ring with a sl st to 1st ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 10 sc in loop/ring, join with sl st to 1st sc. (10 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 1 sc in same st as sl st, ch 18, *1 sc in next sc, ch 18*, repeat from * to * 8 more times, join with a sl st to 1st sc. (10 sc + 10 ch-sp)
Note: In the next rnd make sure the ch-sp are not twisted when you work in them.
Rnd 3: Sl st in next 9 st (this is done to begin rnd in middle of ch-sp), ch 1, 1 sc in first ch-sp, ch 7, *1 sc in next ch-sp, ch 7*, repeat from * to * 8 more times, join with sl st in 1st sc.
Rnd 4: Sl st in next 2 st, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 4 dc in first ch-sp, *ch 4, 5 dc in next ch-sp*, repeat from * to * 8 more times, to join ch 2, make 1 dc in 3rd ch of beg-3, (by joining this way the next rnd starts in the middle of the ch-sp).
Rnd 5: Ch 7 (counts as 1 tr + ch 3), *1 tr + ch 4 + 1 tr in next ch-sp, ch 3*, repeat from * to * 8 more times, 1 tr in first ch-sp, to join ch 2, make 1 dc in 4th ch of beg-7.
Rnd 6: Ch 14 (counts as 1 tr + ch 10), *1 tr in next ch-sp, ch 10*, repeat from * to * 8 more times, join with a sl st to 4th ch of beg-14.
Rnd 7: Sl st in next 5 st, ch 1, 1 sc in first ch-sp, ch 7, *1 sc in next ch-sp, ch 7*, repeat from * to * 8 more times, join with a sl st to 1st sc.
Note: At the end of rnd 8, before you join, you must put the ornament inside the crocheted cover. Last round of the pattern is made with the cover around ornament
Rnd 8: Sl st in next 3 st, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc in first ch-sp, *3 dc in next ch sp*, repeat from * to * 8 more times, join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg-3.
Rnd 9: Sl st in next 2 dc + in space before next dc (the first dc in next ch-sp), ch 4 (counts as 1 dc + ch 1), skip 3 dc, 1 dc in space before next dc, ch 1*, repeat from * to * 8 more times, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg-4.
The cover needs to be tight against the ornament cap, when you cut the yarn make sure to have a long thread and use it to fasten the cover better when you weave in the end.
