Welcome to my blog! My name is Elín Kristín Scheving Guðrúnardóttir, or just Elín for short. I’m a 42 year old crocheter and yarn store owner from Reykjavík, Iceland.
I’ve been crocheting since I was 13 years old and crochet is a BIG part of my identity. My favorite things to crochet are Blankets, Shawls, and to cover items with thread crochet; like stones, coasters, Christmas baubles and mason jars.
I really LOVE starting new projects and then struggle with finishing them. My head is always filled with new crochet ideas that I want to create right away. The same goes with all the patterns I create. I scribble down most of the details and then I say to myself “I’ll finish it soon”, but then I’m on to scribbling a new pattern.
I do have ADHD. Had it my whole life, I was diagnosed when I was 9 years old and apparently I was/am more hyperactive than is common in girls/women. I’m a 110% sure that’s why I crochet so much. Crochet helps me stay calm, as long as I have something to do in my hands I don’t get as restless or bored. There for the name of this blog Fidgety Hands Crochet. Having ADHD is a blessing and a curse. It gives me creativity and there for all my ideas, and it also gives me the impatience and impulsivity that hinder me in finishing projects and writing down all my patterns.
My goal is to fill this blog of mine with my creations and projects and patterns. I’ve written a list of patterns I want to finish writing and hopefully I’ll be able to cross them over one by one. You will be able to see on this blog if I’m making progress or not.
The blog is very much a work in progress – and I’m having more trouble figuring WordPress out than I thought I would.
