It’s Easter baby 🐥

In Iceland, church and state are not separated, and because of that, the days of Easter are public holidays. Is that something people say? Days of Easter?

Every year, mom and I close the yarn store for Easter and take 5 glorious days off from work. Mom actually left for the Faroe Islands, so she has 12 glorious days off 😊

Jóhanna the cat, is my biggest supporter in crochet, always with me when I’m working, but not always helpful ❤️

With my mind off work, I decided to put my mind into working on my patterns and this blog.

I love making Crochet Clothed Stones, and last summer, I crocheted 17 different patterns. I can’t get enough of making them, and I constantly get new ideas for more stones. I say patterns, but do they count as patterns if I don’t write them down 🙈

In the past, I used to tell myself that I didn’t need to write anything down. I would definitely remember what I did. That was not the case at all. I’ve been working on getting better at this, and now I write drafts as I go. Sometimes, the drafts are pretty good, but often, they are scribbles that I tell myself I will definitely understand when I read over them again 😅

A draft of a stone pattern. You can see my reflection on the screen, thinking to myself why Elín do you do this to yourself 😅

I’ve made good progress with the stone patterns. I’ve completed 3 patterns, and I’m pretty far along with 2 more patterns. I’ll be posting them on the blog in the next few days.

Three scarves. All from the same pattern. Just different yarns.

I’ve also been crocheting on my Easter days off. I’m making a scarf, or actually, I’m making 3 scarves at the same time. As one does 😅 I’ll do another blog about this scarf of mine.

I prefer taking pictures outside. But on windy days, I make it work inside.

I’ve written the whole pattern down, and that’s really the easy part. The hardest part for me when making crochet patterns is all the “small” stuff. Measuring size, how much yarn was used, finding my measuring tape!Explaining special stitches if that is needed, and worrying if my English is good enough.

Then it’s the pictures! I have to wait for days when it’s not windy, not raining or snowing, and decent light outside. I prefer taking photos outside. The lighting is better, and I don’t have to move any of my stuff out of the way 😃

Then, when I have pictures, I have to overthink where to place them in the pattern. Overthinking really is a pain.

Taking pictures on a windy day.

I also took pictures of my newest blanket Elías. The blanket is lovely, BUT it’s super difficult to take pictures of it. Mostly the color. It’s a beautiful shade of green, but in all my photos, it just looks gray 🙄

The pattern itself is ready. As soon as I get pictures that I’m happy with, I’ll be posting it on the blog. Wish me luck 🤞

The Easter days off haven’t just been crocheting and patterns. The weather has been amazing. The sun has been shining for a few days now. No rain and hardly any wind. The kids have been outside a lot. We went swimming and I’ve gone for daily walks.

My younger son and I went to the woods today, and we did a bit of hiking. We found a chair in the middle of a ravine. I no joke LOVE finding random chairs and couches outside.

This blog post was way longer than I intended. And I think this is a good way to end it.

Until next time. Crochet on 🙏
