My family and I are spending a week at a summer cabin, and for trips like these, the biggest headache is always deciding which projects to pack. The thought of being far away from the nearest yarn shop and having nothing to crochet is not appealing at all! Thankfully, that has never happened because I always pack more yarn and projects than I could possibly need.

This time, I brought four projects with me.

First is the Minecraft blanket for my nephew, Úlfur, which I started last year and had planned to finish for Christmas. His birthday is at the end of September, so it would be lovely to finish it in time and give it to him as a birthday present.

I also brought my Goldenrod Sweater, which I’m making as a short-sleeved top instead of a sweater. It’s actually almost finished—I just need to complete the sleeves and make sure I’m happy with the length.

Then there’s yarn for a new blanket. I bought some Stone Washed Flow to try out and I’m planning to make the Sarafia blanket with it.

And finally, I packed yarn, old doilies, and stones in case I feel inspired to make some new crochet stones. I bought a whole bunch of Scheepjes Candy Floss yarn, but I haven’t used any of it yet because the crochet-stone inspiration simply hasn’t struck me.

I’m not the only one who brought crochet projects to the cabin.

My fiancé brought the blanket he’s working on.

My 14-year-old son brought the crochet project he’s been working on for the past two years—he’s making strips that he plans to join together into a blanket.

My 12-year-old daughter brought the star blanket she recently started, along with a giant ball of yarn that we bought some time ago to see if it would work for a project.

Of course, we’re not going to spend the entire week just crocheting. We’re planning some day trips and looking forward to being tourists in our own country. We’ll eat good food, relax in the hot tub, and most importantly, just enjoy spending time together.
