I’m obsessed with crochet covering stones again. This seems to happen to me every summer 😅

I’ve crocheted several new stones over the past week, and I’m trying to be disciplined about writing the patterns down as I go, instead of letting them join the ever-growing pile of patterns I still haven’t finished.

When I’m designing stone covers, I usually have to unravel my work over and over again until I’m happy with how it looks and it fits the stone properly.

But one of the stones I made this time wasn’t like that at all. It worked perfectly on the very first try, and I remember thinking, Wow… that was easy!

I always crochet more than one stone with each pattern to make sure it actually works, because no two stones are exactly the same shape. When I went to make this one again…well, it definitely wasn’t so easy anymore.

My first attempt was way too small to fit the stone. The second attempt was way, way too big. The third attempt was still too big, and by then I couldn’t face unraveling it again, so I got a bigger stone to use instead. On the fourth attempt, and with a new color, I finally got it to fit.

Now comes the hardest part: writing the pattern in a way that actually works for other people too. Wish me luck! 👌
