What did I actually make in 2025?

I crochet EVERY day, or well almost every day, if I don’t crochet it’s because I’m super tired…or sometimes knitting. I’m not very organized with my projects, or keeping track of what I make. And because I start so many projects and struggle with finishing I sometimes feel like I’m not actually making anything at all.

I’d like to be more like my mom who keeps track of all her projects on Ravelry with all the information on what yarn she uses, needles and patterns.

Even though I feel like I’m not finishing anything I know I am. I just don’t remember everything. So I decided to go over all my photos that I took of my projects in 2025 and make a post about it. Document what I actually made in 2025.

Turns out I took 1177 photos of my projects – 110 of those photos included my cats with my projects.

January – janúar

In December 2024 my mom gifted me a Advent calendar from an Icelandic indie yarn dyer called Dottir Dyeworks, a box with 24 hand dyed mini skeins. I got the idea to make a new blanket pattern using the yarn in the calendar. Create a square that would use exactly each skein. After a few tries I had finally made a square that I was happy with.

I picked up an unfinished project and set a goal to finish it. I started this HUGE granny square blanket in November 2023 and kept adding to it but never finished.

I re-did a granny square blanket joining that I had done. I originally joined the granny squares with a brown color, but I just wasn’t happy with it. So I re-did it with a very dark gray color.

Finished this blanket that I started making in January 2023. All that was left was to finish a few solid color half squares and do the border. I always meant to finish the pattern for it – but it is still just a draft in my computer.

February – febrúar

Day Date Cardigan pattern by Make & Do Crew.
I picked up yet another project that I started in 2023 and didn’t finish. All that was left to do was finish crocheting the second pocked and attaching them. When the cardigan was finished I didn’t like wearing it cause it had too many holes and that bothered me – an annoying sensory thing. My boyfriend was glad to be it’s new owner.

Traveled to Denmark. Started a new blanket project on the plane. But while in Denmark I bought some new yarn and started yet another blanket pattern. The beige blanket is still in a bag, and I don’t know if or when I will finish it. The green blanket got the name Elías and was finished.

Picked up another unfinished project from 2023. A shawl that I created and never finished writing the pattern for. All that was left to finish was to weave in the ends and block it. This photo was taken when I finished writing the pattern in Icelandic.

I took photos of the shawl but didn’t like any of them well enough – so I paused the pattern writing until I had better photos. I still haven’t taken new photos.

March – mars

My store had a booth at Garnival, a huge yarn event in Iceland. I took a calendar square with me to be able to crochet while there as a tribute to a crochet friend, Rósa, that passed in November 2024. She started the Icelandic hashtag #hekláflakki (e. crochet on the go) a few years ago, and every time I crochet on the go I think of her.

Continued making the Elías blanket and loved that we were seeing the sun more and more each day.

Continued working on my huge granny square blanket.

Started working on a new shawl pattern with yarn that I bought at Garnival, the yarn festival. This was take one and take two of my shawl, that as of now I’m calling the Wannabe Sophie.

Started joining the huge granny square blanket. My cats were there with me the whole time. I used the brown color that I had after I un-joined the other granny blanket in January.

April – apríl

Continued working on my Wannabe Sophie until I was finally happy with the way I was making it.

Finished the Elías blanket and took photos of it. This color is impossible to get good on photos and I wasn’t happy with any of the photos I took.

Finished my first Wannabe Sophie. And couldn’t stop laughing cause I don’t feel that this is my style. It’s kinda just a push up for my double chin to make it look bigger.

Still started another Wannabe Sophie…because by that time I was obsessed and hyper focused on making it in as many colors and yarn combos as I could.

I was really productive during Easter. I finished writing some stone patterns and published a few on the blog.

Also during Easter I started making my third and fourth Wannabe Sophie’s. Because like I said I was obsessed at the time.

Another also during Easter, I took a few photos to include in the Wannabe Sophie pattern. When I am writing this blog in January 2026 I have no memory of where I was in the pattern writing process when I lost interest.

Wishing Well pattern by Garnstudio.
In April I finished yet another project that I started in 2023. This time a KNITTED project. For months I just couldn’t force myself to pick it up again to finish. All that was left was to finish the second sleeve. I did the first sleeve wrong so it turned out way too long. I decided that I just wanted to finish and it was ok that if the sleeves didn’t match.

May – maí

Continued working on my Dottir calendar squares. Decided that I didn’t like how some of the colors turned out. In my opinion some multicolor yarns that have a short color change don’t always look very good in crochet – but they work great in knitting. I went to my Dottir Dyeworks yarn stash and replaced some squares with other colors that I felt kinda matched the ones I was taking out.

Worked some more on my Wannabe Sophie pattern. But again can’t remember how much of it is complete. I could check but that would be a sidetrack from this post.

Finished crocheting the Dottir squares. And was able to take my crochet outside. The winters here in Iceland are really dark and I can’t put into words how good it feels when the sun is finally back and I can sit barefoot in the grass and crochet.

Took a selfie while blocking the Dottir squares. I took a video of the blocking process of BUT failed to check what I was wearing, and it turned out that what I wore was way too revealing for me to be comfortable with posting it. But the selfie is nice.

Started making rainbow triangle motifs for a garland for the window in my store.

Also picked out colors for yet another granny square blanket. The single crochet panels seen in the photo is what my boyfriend is making.

June – júní

Flow Top pattern by Linda Skuja.
Started making a Flow Top for myself. I don’t often wear wool clothes cause I’m always warm. But this top has lots of holes in it so I decided to give it a go. I bought the yarn. Did the gauge swatch – was unsure if I got it right – but decided to just go!

The pattern is soooo beautiful. But it wasn’t a quick crochet project for me. The top is worked sideways so it’s not possible to try it on while making it. I was unsure the whole time if the size was right but kept going.

And just as I suspected it turned out way to big. It was a blow to my crochet ego. I’m not used to getting things wrong. But then again I am not used to making crochet clothes. I finished it and it has been in my store since then – to show how beautiful it is and to show customers how the yarn turns out.

I finished the huge granny square blanket. I never took a photo of it after I finished. So my boyfriend helped me out yesterday so I could include this finish in the blog post. That’s why the photo isn’t green and pretty. I wasn’t sure if I would make it through the border. I did 10 rounds of granny border. I timed it and 1 round took me just over 2 hours. But I did it!

And I worked on a new granny square blanket.

July – júlí

I found this old doily in a thrift shop and used it as inspiration to make two new stones. I didn’t write anything down because I was sure I would remember what I did when the time to write would come – the time hasn’t yet arrived.

Went for a week to a summer house with the family, Took so much yarn with me. Managed to fracture a rib while jumping with the kids – that made me much less active than usually – which meant more time crocheting the two new granny blankets I had going on.

Finished all the granny squares in a ridiculously short amount of time. Total of 260 granny squares.

Started joining the squares.

Took more photos of the Elías blanket and was happy enough to publish the pattern.

Blocked the triangles for the rainbow garland. My biggest supporters were of course with me the whole time.

Made these tiny tiny stones.

The rainbow garland then went up in the window at my store. This is not the final look of the window. It seems that I didn’t take a picture when it was ready.

August – ágúst

Trunk the Trendy Turtle pattern by CrochetCroChey.
I’m not much of a Amigurumi crocheter. But my daughter asked me to make this Big Bottom Turtle for her. And I couldn’t say no. Used yarn I had at home and that’s why the turtle is pink and looks more like a new born hamster.

Made a single granny square to be able to post on my stores IG account for international granny square day. The yarn I used to make all of the hundreds of squares that are in this post isn’t sold in my store and therefor I couldn’t really post them there.

Cora Top pattern by Jeanette Haugland.
Saw another gorgeous top on IG that I just had to make. For the second time this year a top I made for me didn’t turn out as I had hoped. This top was also worked sideways so it wasn’t possible to try it on while working on it. I wasn’t sure if it would fit while making it but tried measuring it up against me and decided to keep going. Feel very brave posting these photos here cause they are not the most flattering. The top looks great except that it is way to short in the front – probably because I have a big bust. To fix it I have to unravel the whole bottom piece and I just didn’t couldn’t be bothered at the time.

Started a new blanket for a friend that was expecting a baby boy. Only photo I took of it was when I was crocheting while waiting with my son at the emergency room. He fell and had to get his knee stitched together.

September – september

Unraveled a whole shawl I made back in 2023. Not crochet but it took a long time to unravel it all.

Started making a huge Minecraft blanket for one of my nephews. He’s waiting for it so I plan on finishing it in 2026.

Took part in a tribute yarn bombing for my crochet friend Rósa that passed. Another friend of hers started the project and then welcomed everyone who wanted to join in.

Started joining the Dottir squares.

Made necklaces out of the small stones I made and gifted to my friends daugther.

Kept working on the new baby blanket BUT decided that it wasn’t bringing me any joy so I decided to frog it.

October – október

Finally got around to washing the granny square blankets I made and took photos of them. I gifted all of these for Christmas.

Finished joining the Dottir squares blanket.

Hat & mittens – Alba pattern by Rósa Tom
Sweater – Spói pattern Gudrun Maria
Made this blanket from the yarn I frogged in the other blanket. Also crocheted the cute hat and mittens. Then my mom knitted a little sweater. This was gifted to a friend at her baby shower.

I crocheted a few baubles using a pattern that I made back in 2012 and only published in Icelandic. I translated them to English and posted them to the blog. Yay! Again I had the cats to help me out.

Falling Fog pattern by Garnstudio.
Actually started KNITTING a sweater for myself!

Made one bauble from each of my 6 cm bauble patterns, I did it so I would have all of my own baubles matching in type & color. Lucky for me we had a HUGE snow day that created a great background for photos. None of these made it to MY Christmas tree, instead they ended up on the Christmas tree in my store.

Made great progress with my knitted sweater.

November – nóvember

This was a month of knitting! I finished my sweater in only 3 weeks. Took a photo of it for proof before I washed it just in case I would ruin it. Which I didn’t. Since finishing it I have worn it maybe 3 times. It’s really comfy – but it’s too warm for me.

Cherry Fluff Hat pattern by Garnstudio.
Cherry Fluff Scarf pattern by Garnstudio.
After I finished the sweater I started and finished a hat for my boyfriend. Learned to knit brioche both in the round and rows, it was more fun than I expected. I also started a matching scarf for him BUT then the Sailor Slipper craze started and I didn’t finish the scarf.

Sailor Slippers pattern by Annie Sews.
While working on the Sailor slippers my enthusiasm for knitting ran out. But I powered through the slippers and finished them. If I hadn’t they would probably be laying in the same bag as the unfinished scarf.

I wanted to finish the Dottir square blanket and write up the pattern before December. So I tried making a border for it but after three attempts trying to force something that I just wasn’t feeling I decided to just put it away and continue when I get an idea that I like.

And then my bauble craze started. Sometimes I get obsessed with projects – I love repetition and I love arranging things by color – and I loved obsessing over all these baubles!

December – desember

I made soooo many baubles in December that I lost count of them. But they were more than 50. My daughter is going on a school trip in February and then my son is being confirmed in April (I think that is the right way to say it) and both of those events cost money. So I tried posting these for sale on my FB page and was able to sell a good amount of them – enough to pay for the trip and the rest went to the confirmation savings.

Snowflake Crochet Along 2023 pattern by Jessica Wifall.
I made some snowflakes during December. We started selling Scheepjes Catona Shine in my store and I had to try it out. Managed to finish a lot of them while my daughter was getting her braces.

Bloom boom blanket pattern by Mette Hesselbjerg.
Started a new project just before Christmas and I was sure would be my last new project of the year…but that wasn’t the case.

When I finished the snowflakes it was time to block them. I actually didn’t get to that till Christmas was just around the corner. Not my favorite thing to do BUT they look so pretty when they are ready.

Snowflake Crochet Along 2023 pattern by Jessica Wifall.
Just look at them! So pretty!

Fringe Fur pattern by Lola Ýr.
My last finished project of the year was this Fringe Fur. I thought it would take me much longer to make than it actually did. Finished it in one day…or well almost one day. I started in the evening and finished with in 24 hours from starting it. So kinda one day.

The last new project of the year was my second Fringe Fur! Both Fringe furs will go up in the window in my store in January.

If you took the time to read this whole post – thank you!

It’s a really long post – and I am so happy that I did it. I’ve been thinking about it for a few days but wasn’t sure I would have the patience and attention to finish all of it. It’s basic and there is not much info on each project – just a recap of what I did.

I’m really happy with how many old projects I finished over the year. And also how many projects I started I actually also finished! I think finishing projects was a goal I set for myself – but I can’t remember if that is correct.

I hope that in the year 2026 I will finish writing more patterns and keep on finishing projects.

Until next time
Elín
